Last month we were honored with not one, but two design awards from AIA Jacksonville. The first award is for our mid mod reno project, awarded the Award of Merit for Residential Built.

This 1978 family home designed by native Jacksonville architects suffered hurricane damage to the first floor, which put its future at risk. Taking advantage of the need for a gut renovation, the owners worked with our architects to revive and modernize the original design concept and floor plan. The new layout creates spaces for modern living and an open, light-filled upper floor living space that embraces the Saint Johns River. Refining the lines of the facade harkens back to the original proportions proposed in 1978, creating a lighter front assembly that floats in front of the river-facing facade.

The next award goes to our distillery event space, which won the Award of Merit for Commercial Unbuilt. 

Our design team is turning an existing ho-hum structure into a campus centerpiece for welcoming elite guests and whiskey connoisseurs. The new building design celebrates the company's centuries-old tradition of craftsmanship while creating a highly sophisticated environment for enjoying fine cuisine and some of the world's best spirits. The project explores the contrast between the rustic and refined by placing the rough-hewn textures of charred wood and leather against the delicate steel and glass of a new jewel box addition. Guests have views of the property's tree-lined central pond, the source of the pure spring-fed water essential to the delicate distillery process. A weir and creek connecting upper and lower ponds are also restored as part of the project, cascading cool fresh water over an operable water wheel adjacent to a new open-air courtyard.

The AIA Jacksonville awards program recognizes contributions to the advancement of architecture, urban planning, art and craftsmanship. We couldn’t be more proud to see our work celebrated.
